About Smart Dating speed dating events

The Smart Dating UK speed dating experience was launched 12 months ago by four thirty-somethings who'd each become somewhat disillusioned with the single scene. Between them they'd tried most forms of dating and although they each had met some lovely people, were finding most dating methods to be costly, time consuming and ineffective. speed dating was not being offered in the, area so the idea grew, and Smart Dating UK was born... We are currently looking for speed dating venues in London, so if you know somewhere you think may be suitable, please do let us know and we will give you and your friends free places at our London launch event.

What to say during 3 minute speed dating ?

You will find that 3 minutes goes very quickly so you need to be careful not to end up just talking about yourself and not finding anything out about your date! However, don't make the mistake of interrogating or interviewing your date with a long list of questions! Although you may find out a lot about someone you are not likely to leave them with a particularly good impression of yourself! We suggest that you prepare a few set questions in case you get stuck at any time, for example, “do you have any favourite restaurants in London ”. The key is to try and keep a balance between finding out about your date and giving them an idea of what you are like.

Will a three minute speed date be long enough?

We have been running speed dating events for since 2003 and the feedback we get is that three minutes is long enough to know if you want to see someone again and short enough for those you definitely wouldn't see again! We suggest you make useful notes about your various people you met, as this will help you remember them when your matches come through! Although you're not going to get to know someone's life history in just three minutes, you should be able to tell if you like what they say, their smile and if there's some chemistry.

Speed Dating Feedback

"Just thought I should say thank you for organising the event back in early August. Not only did I have a most enjoyable and fun evening, but most unexpectedly, I actually met someone I have embarked on a serious relationship with! Just thought you would like to know that your efforts have had some positive results!" Rob - Bath

"Just thought I would say how much fun the speed dating evening was. I actually met someone on the night and things are going really well between us. So to anyone thinking of trying it, go for it." Louise - Manchester

"Just thought I'd say it was a really good night. I'd tried speed dating down in London a few times but your company seemed much friendlier. Richard, HULL.
