1. Book your place

This is best done online - it's very simple, and you'll get email confirmation of your booking.

2. Arrive in good time and register

Turn up in time to get yourself a drink and register with the host who will explain how the evening works if you don't already know.

3. Have fun speed dating

After everyone has registered, your host will give a brief speech explaining how the evening works, after which you'll take your allocated seat. Usually the ladies stay seated and the men move around, experience has proved that it works better that way!

As you complete your mini dates, make sure you make notes on the scorecard you've been given to remind yourself of each person you meet adding a yes, no or friend. Dates last from between 3 to 5 minutes depending on the event, you'll be able to meet up to 20 other people, with breaks at intervals for a drink.

At the end of the night you're free to stay on and make better acquaintance with those you've met, or leave it to chance, and see who's ticked you!

4. Complete your matches

In most cases, you'll be able to complete your matches online - most people are keen to see who's ticked them as soon as possible, so make sure you complete this step as soon as you can so as not to miss out on meeting up with that special person or some new friends.

5. Send messages to your matches

As soon as you know who's keen on you, you'll get the opportunity to send a message or two to anyone you matched with.
