The study was conducted using 50 female student volunteers, 25 of which rated photographs, and 25 that rated their text profiles, so that there was no overlap, and no chance of one influencing the other.

Rebecca Brand, the psychologist that led the study, surmised the results with: “Our data suggests that attractive individuals wrote texts (profiles) that conveyed confidence, and it was perhaps this confidence which primarily signalled quality to the women”.

From my experience with the ladies (which is vast), I can confirm that confidence is a key factor in the attraction factor, as I’m sure a lot of other people can too. It looks like online dating isn’t any different in that respect.
